A Grand House for Grand Designs Live
Solutions2 first began working with Media 10 in 2010. Since then we have built a close collaborative working relationship which creates some of the most breathtaking exhibition spaces in our portfolio.
The Brief
- Build a grand design at the very heart of Grand Designs Live.
- Reflect luxury yet meet the requirements of Net Zero.
- Showcase the products of 25 contributing companies.
The Features
As this was the first ever ‘Grand Designs Live Grand House’ we needed to create impact. Sitting at the very heart of the show, the build had to represent luxury, innovation and carbon neutrality as well as make a statement as a ‘grand design’.
Together with Media 10 we decided on a traditional double-height build which could be seen from across the show. We designed both indoor and outdoor areas to showcase products differing from a grand piano to a car, flooring to wallpaper, external cladding to glazing, an ice bath to an outdoor kitchen. Each area was distinct and each product able to shine as visitors toured the house.
The Results
The first-ever Grand Designs Live Grand House was completed in two days, all 25 brands were showcased and Kevin McCloud took us on a tour.
The build won Best Feature Area at the 2024 Exhibition News Awards for Media 10 and Silver Place at the 2023 ESSA Awards for Solutions2.
The stand was so successful that we also created the Dream House for the Ideal Home Show portfolio and returned to build the Grand House at Grand Designs 2024 with a 900m2 barn conversion. We have designed and built every house feature across both portfolios since.
